Jason Andrew Williams (DON YUTE)

Born Jason Andrew Williams, Don Yute's introduction to the entertainment world is similar to that of his contemporaries: by chance and by being in the right place at the right time. After gaining a reputation for his freestyles, a friend introduced him to Legend Disco. This proved to be just the opportunity that he needed. Don Yute's first single "Loving Excess" on the "Pepper Seed Riddim" was released in 1993 for Dave Kelly , which he quickly followed with the successful hit "Hardcore" produced by Steelie and Cleevie and "You Own The Man".

In an industry dominated by "rude yutes" and "bad bwoys", deejay Don Yute emerged on the dancehall scene as a unique figure. Born in Kingston Jamaica and raised in Port Antonio in an educated family, he pursued a dream normally aspired to by young boys in inner city communities. Whereas these youths sought dancehall as a means to escape poverty and depravation, Don Yute uses his deejay skills to satisfy his need to express his thoughts and release constrained feeling. However Don Yute's background makes him no stranger to the struggle or pain for that matter. Just after landing a deal with Capitol Records just about the time "Row The Boat" became his most popular song, Don Yute headed first to Atlanta and then Miami. It was while in Atlanta that a masked Gunman almost took his life shooting him in the chest scarring his lungs. Boobilous or The Golden Child as he is also called recounts the incident as a dark time in his life and only through God's grace and the support of his family, friends and fans was he able to make it through.

Sufficiently healed physically, mentally and spiritually, Don Yute has put that sordid incident behind and has returned to his old ways and has bounced back more focused and more determined than before. After establishing his own Golden Child Label, Don Yute began turning out a slew of self produced singles as well as productions for other established artistes such as Akon, Pitbull, Trina, Trickdaddy, Etana, Beenie Man and Spragga Benz and is mentioned by reggae superstar Sean Paul as his mentor.

In the United States, Don Yute has recorded with multi-platinum producer Jermaine Dupri (So So Def Records), recording the RIAA certified gold selling singles "Sexiest" and "Hardcore Wuk" for So So Def Bass All Stars compilation CD part 1 and 2. He also worked with Lil' Jon, Jim Johnson (Lil Wayne: Lollipop), Mr Collipark (Hurricane Chris, Soulja Boy), Lenky, Sly and Robie, Family Man Barrett, Stephen McGregor. Lil Jon has him on the original Move Bitch track on the BIA BIA album, and Ying Yang has him on their set, Me And My Brother.

Don Yute describes his unique deejay style as a "WORLD HOP"! When it comes to performing, he is energetic, spontaneous and focused expect surprises - he is definitely a hardcore artist with passion for his craft . He has performed in shows such as Reggae Sunsplash, Sting and has toured the United States with G Unit, Omarion, Ying Yang Twins, Rick Ross and Music Soul Child. Don Yute has recently released albums in europe on Ali Campbell's (UB40) record label Oracabessa Records and another album in Japan titled "The Golden Child for Formula Recordings". He is not one to limit himself and is known to ride any rhythm, track or beat he hears with mood, tone, feeling, and appealing originality. His style is all his own, and he has a flava and texture that is at the forefront of much of the music revolution today. He is an outstanding artist and a phenomenal talent. Don Yute's distinctive vocals and unique flow put him in a class all on his own.

Don Yute's new project, "A Different Wurl" features his new smash hit "Love Dem" (ROKCSTONE PROD) , Show Me The Way feat.Jacob Killer Miller ( the late lead singer of International reggae group Inner Circle ) produced by Dj Steam Bounce Bounce, Different Girls featuring Half Pint, Mi So Hot , Whine Gyal Whine and Oh Oh featuring Pitbull. In addition to music ventures, Don Yute has appeared in a classic movie, Club Paradise, with Robin Williams as the boat boy in 1986. One of his songs, "Sweat," is on the soundtrack for the movie Havoc in 2005. Don Yute is looking to expand his talent into the acting scenes.
